Sodium copper chlorophyllin, also named Chlorophyll Copper Sodium Salt. It is a highly stable metal porphyrin. It is dark green powder with strong coloring power and bright color. Its aqueous solution is blue-green clear and transparent liquid.

When the pH value of its aqueous solution is less than 6, powdery precipitation appears at the bottom of the dye solution. This is because the planar spatial structure of sodium copper chlorophyllin molecules is easy to aggregate under acidic conditions. Sodium copper chlorophyllin can be made from spinach or silkworm manure. Chlorophyll is extracted with acetone or ethanol, and an appropriate amount of copper bismuth acid is added. The magnesium atom in the porphyrin ring of chlorophyllin is replaced by copper.
